4.5 Day OFFSHORE SAFETY REPRESENTATIVES TRAINING COURSE

This course sets out the minimum level of training that Offshore Safety Representatives elected under SI 1989/971 must receive to assist them in fulfilling their functions.

Course content

Delegates successfully completing the course will have gained knowledge of and be able to:

• Demonstrate the role of a Safety Representative
• Acquire the personal skills necessary for the execution of the Safety Representatives function
• Show knowledge of how the las is made
• Describe the main points of the core legislation
• Give an overview of the requirements of other relevant Health & Safety legislation and Safety Management systems
• Explain the principles of personal effectiveness
• Take part in practical exercises
• Identify sources of Health & Safety information

Recommended refresher training

• Holder should undertake Further Training in line with the Oil & Gas UK guidelines.
